Bob Emry has played for Tiny Grimes (Art Tatum trio) and has performed at the Village Gate, and also for "Chorus Line" at the Schubert Theater in NYC. He has performed on drums with Clark Terry, Lonnie Smith, Herb Ellis, Billy Eckstein, Al Hibbler, Jack McDuff, George Benson, Sol Yaged, Laurel Watson, Helen Forest, Lionell Hampton, Don Cornell, Nat Dixon, etc.
He has also served as an arranger for our group (Felix and All the Cats) and has contributed his composition "Sweetie Pie" to our repertoire. Bob has also been aired on radio and television and is best known for the "Come Up to Harlem" documentary at Wells Restaurant where we regularly play each month. This can be found on the WNET Discovery channel.
Bob is also a music professor at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, NY and teaches privately. He has an M.A. in jazz studies from Queens College, NYC, and a B.A., from the Music University of Northern Texas in Wichita Falls, TX.
